About

My name is Rachel Wallace Reid and I am passionate about my work with children. I believe that children should be respected and loved unconditionally. In my home and in my classroom, I strive everyday to help children feel capable, valuable, confident, nurtured and loved.

I am a mom, first and foremost. I am also proud and grateful to be a Montessori teacher at the Center Montessori School in Bradenton, Florida. I have taught at the Elementary level for 12 years. I was trained at the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies in Silver Spring, Maryland. I have had the privilege of training with Kathryn Kvols, author of Redirecting Children’s Behavior, to become a certified parenting instructor. Recently, I received my certificate for instructing teachers in Redirecting for a Cooperative Classroom.  I have a Master’s Degree in the History of Art and previously worked in museum education, planning educational programs for children, families, schools, and adults.

My goal with ParentingTree.org is to inspire and empower parents to have the resources and tools necessary to be the parents they hope to be to their children. It is my desire that we can create a place where we share ideas and information in support of parents and defense of children. As Janice Mattina, my mentor,  former teacher, and now boss once said, “Children are not lesser beings. They are just smaller and have not been on the earth as long.” Let us work together to give them the respect and love that they deserve.
